Learn Our Billfishing Techniques
Bait And Switch
Guatemala sail fish and marlin are abundant, typically giving anglers many shots per day at a trophy bill fish. Guatemalan captains and mates are among the most experienced in the world with the bait and switchtechnique. Sailfish and marlin are teased to the back of the boat and anglers pitch a bait to them while the mate simultaneously pulls the teaser away. The excitement of this technique is virtually indescribable and is highly addictive even to experienced big game fishermen. The highly-effective fishing technique works well whether you are billfishing on the fly, or using typical conventional gear. It is easily taught to even even the most inexperienced anglers. We encourage our clients to be as involved in the entire process as they want to be. Our charter captains put a priority on seeing that our fishermen get everything they desire from their all-inclusive fishing vacation in Guatemala. Our crews are all excellent patient teachers. We routinely raise so many sailfish, blue marlin, black marlin, and dorado that it is no big deal if you miss a few until you get the hang of it! By the end of your fist day fishing with the Mad Marlin team you should feel like a professional tournament sportfisherman (or fisherwoman)! So now that I am politically correct, I must say that it anecdotally seems that the ladies and kids learn the proper bait and switch technique faster that we men do.
